Spend $6,000 in 3 months to unlock a welcome bonus of 50,000 points (another 10,000 is offered if you renew the card, but that is obviously optional).

(Here are our 5 tips to easily reach the minimum spend requirements.)

Your card earns a minimum of 1 point per dollar on everything, so with the spending required to unlock the welcome bonus, you’ll get at least 6,000 points ($6,000 X 1).

Reward flights from Toronto (YYZ) or Montreal (YUL) to Miami (MIA) cost 11,000 Avios points each. These are direct flights on American Airlines.

The taxes cost $76 per roundtrip (so $152 for the first 4 one-ways) and just $8 from the US to Canada for your 5th one-way flight (total of $160 + the $165 card fee = $325 for 5 one-way flights).
