RV rentals for $1 (CA$1) per day? Yes, it’s very true. It’s just one of sooooo many travel tips that few people know about. And this deal is currently available to let you explore beautiful Western Canada at a much lower price than you thought.
These are RV relocation deals, so they’re not for everyone. But they can be really great for those who love RV travel or want to try it for cheap.
Here are the details about $1 (CA$1)/day relocation deals for RVs (recreational vehicles).
Overview of the $1 (CA$1)/day RV relocation deals
RV relocation deals involve doing more mileage than if you flew to Western Canada and rented an RV once there… but it’s incredibly cheaper. Like everything in travel, the less convenient and simple it is, the more affordable it is!!! Not very complicated.
Here are the basics of RV relocation deals:
- One-way rental
- You can just fly the other way
- One-way flights are just half the price
- Really don’t stress about this; example below
- Incredibly low rental price
- Often $1 (CA$1)/day (sometimes $17 (CA$25)/day)
- There’s also a $35 (CA$50) total booking fee
- Sometimes there’s even a gas amount reimbursed
- Depends on the offers
- It’s mostly offered when it’s last-minute
- Or when they have trouble renting the RVs
- Available on a trusted site called Imoova
- Platform that helps travelers
- To find RV suppliers
The site Flytrippers recommends for RV relocations, Imoova, has facilitated over 25,000 relocations since 2007 and works with over 150 suppliers offering RV relocations worldwide.
Here are the important conditions to know:
- Date range to adhere to
- So you need to be more flexible
- Maximum number of days allowed at the low price
- And a number of extra days you can pay for
- But there’s also a return deadline to consider
- Maximum mileage allowed at the low price
- Enough to make a few detours as you wish
- You can also pay extra for more kilometers
- Available in many countries and regions
- Canada
- United States
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Japan
- Europe
I’ll show you a concrete example just below to understand all this.
It’s really an amazing tip that deserves to be better known!
And it lets you do a unique trip like driving across beautiful Canada… without having to do it all over again in the other direction. And without accommodation costs.

Here are a few other things to know:
- No special driver’s license is required
- These are small RVs
- Bookings are non-refundable
- It’s not a big amount anyway
- But you can be refunded with a good reason
- Thanks to credit card cancellation insurance
- Security deposit higher than with rental cars
- Makes sense since the vehicle is worth more
- They refund it completely upon return, obviously
- Credit card damage insurance not valid for RVs
- Unlike all rental cars
- Check if your car insurance can cover you
- You are responsible for a maximum of $2087 (CA$3000) in damages
- May vary depending on the offer
- You can reduce your liability by paying extra
- $21 (CA$30) per day to lower it to $696 (CA$1000)
- $31 (CA$45) per day to lower it to $0 (CA$0)
Insurance is really the only downside of RV relocations, but it’s not very different from renting an RV the traditional way: insurance always costs a lot when it’s not included free with credit cards (whenever it’s not a rental car) and you want to lower the amount you’re responsible for.
The difference is that at least the other portion of the rental cost is just $1 (CA$1)/day with RV relocation deals, instead of way more than $1 (CA$1) when you rent an RV the traditional way.
Here are the concrete steps to take advantage of an RV relocation deal:
- Find a deal that works for you on Imoova
- They are obviously in limited quantities
- And for a limited time (like all deals)
- Make a reservation by choosing your dates
- You must pay a refundable $70 (CA$100) deposit
- You’ll be refunded at RV pickup
- Wait for the reservation confirmation
- It’s not instant (1-2 business days)
- Book your flight for the missing leg
- See section below
- Pick up the RV on the chosen date
- Precise location is in the offer
- You must pay a security deposit
- You’ll be refunded upon RV return
- Return the RV on the chosen date
- Precise location is in the offer
It’s one of the rare things in the travel world that I haven’t been able to try yet, but I’ve heard good things about it. If you take advantage of it, let us know how you like it to help other travelers!
RV relocation deals currently available
Here are the 3 destinations of the 6 current $1 (CA$1)/day offers departing from both Toronto and Montreal (that you can use in the other direction if you live out West):
- Calgary (Alberta)
- Edmonton (Alberta)
- Vancouver (British Columbia)
For all 3 cities, you can also choose between 4- or 6-person RVs, hence the total of 6 different offers at $1 (CA$1)/day from each city.
Some even offer you $70 (CA$100) in gas!
There’s also one available from Halifax to Vancouver.
If you’re not among those who want to boycott travel to the United States, the same 3 destinations are even available departing from Elkhart, Indiana — but those ones pay for $209 (CA$300) in gas!

If you want a shorter trip, there’s a deal between Vancouver and Calgary and between Elkhart and Toronto.
Finally, there are plenty of options to explore the American West or even other countries.
On Imoova, you can see the number of offers in each of the other countries mentioned above, like 76 RVs to rent for cheap in Australia, for example.

There are sometimes relocation deals on regular cars, but it’s honestly become extremely rare in Canada.
I was able to take advantage of that in 2018 and it was really just $1 (CA$1) (taxable of course) with Discount.

Concrete example of a $1 (CA$1)/day RV relocation deal
To understand the basics concretely, let’s look at one of the currently available offers.

You can rent a 6-person RV for $1 (CA$1)/day.

You must pick up the RV in Montreal and drop it off in Vancouver.

You must pick it up between April 22 and May 22. To see the return deadline, you need to click on the listing.

You get 9 days at $1 (CA$1)/day and 12 more days if you want, by paying extra. To see the cost of the extra days, that will be on the offer page too. And you must always still return the RV by the deadline (also on the offer page)!

On the offer page, there are many more details.

For example, in addition to pickup dates, you must also consider the RV return deadline: no later than May 27.

For this particular offer, the price for optional extra days is $49 (CA$70)/day for up to 12 extra days (so 9 days at $1 (CA$1) and then 12 days at $49 (CA$70)).

You get 6000 kilometers, while Google says the shortest route is 4560 kilometers. That still gives you almost 33% more for detours you would like to make.

You can pay $0 (CA$0.45) per kilometer if you want to add more.

As mentioned, you must pay a fixed booking fee of $35 (CA$50). If you rent the RV for 9 days at $1 (CA$1), the $35 (CA$50) fee comes to $2 (CA$2.78) per day per person if there are 2 of you. So $3 (CA$3.78) total per day per person.

The RV’s age (often they’re less than 3 years old like this one) and some other details are included.

They even tell you the exact models you could get (you can’t choose though).

Finally, the last detail to note that’s specific to the winter period is that you must pick up the RV startin on May 1st if you want access to the water system. Otherwise, before that, it’s not yet activated.

Flight logistics to take advantage of RV relocation deals
Seriously, it fascinates us how many people stress about one-way flights.
Most people are so used to always buying roundtrip flights as if it were the only thing allowed and the only way to do it.
It’s normal not to know if no one tells you, obviously. But it’s one of so many examples that even if you’re a fairly experienced traveler, there are certainly still plenty of simple tricks you can learn.
Anyway, buying 2 one-ways is often cheaper than a roundtrip, or if not, it’s just half the price (except for most long-distance flights paid in cash; in points, even for long-distance flights, it’s just half).
Flight pros very often buy separate one-ways. In fact, I didn’t buy any roundtrips in 2024 out of my 48 flights, and none in 2023 either out of my 45 flights (I’ve traveled less these past years). So when many thought it was complicated to book my round-the-world trip, which was obviously entirely one-way, it really wasn’t any different than any other trip (it was just more flights, due to the promotion).
You should really read our guide with 31 tips to try to save on your flights if you want to become a flight pro. And I’ll have more content about the newly-excluded carry-ons on all Canadian airlines so you can understand how airline prices work, as clearly many do not understand.
So to take advantage of an RV relocation deal, you do the same thing and simply buy a one-way flight. There’s nothing complicated about that.
For example, say you take advantage of the Vancouver RV deal, you simply buy your return for $79 (CA$114) from Vancouver to Montreal (or even less with a connection).

Even with this cost, a $1 (CA$1)/day RV deal from Imoova obviously saves you a lot compared to the price of an RV rental in Western Canada!
If the flight price is that low, it’s obviously not worth wasting rewards of the more valuable type like Aeroplan points, American Express points, RBC Avion points, or Avios points.
Simply use rewards of the more simple type, like the free $713 (CA$1025) from the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card‘s welcome bonus (which will also add 4 free airport lounge passes on April 30; you’ll get them even if you apply for the card before, obviously).
If the flight price is higher than that on your dates, just take the time to compare the cost in points with the rewards of the more valuable type you currently have.

I don’t see the Hfx to Vancouver offer on Imoova that you mention.
If it’s not there anymore, that means it’s been booked unfortunately!
Fuel costs are covered by driver?
You can see the details on every offer, but a few of the current deals to pay you $100 for gas 🙂
