Scotia Increased Welcome Bonuses Ending July 1st

Three excellent Scotia cards have increased welcome bonuses that are ending on July 1st and they should definitely be interesting for those who want to earn free travel and even free airport lounge access (and especially for those who earn under $60,000).

These offers are the highest we’ve seen on all 3 cards since the beginning of the year.

Here are the 3 offers that could be perfect for your own situation.

$130 free: must-have card for those who earn under $60,000

The increased welcome bonus on the Scotiabank Gold Card ends soon, and this is the best time to get the card that is perfect for travelers who earn under $60,000 annually.

Usually, what matters the most is the signup bonus (and $130 in free travel as an easy travel credit is not bad at all)…

But this card really stands out for its travel insurance: most cards with the best travel insurance coverage are only available for those who earn $60,000 a year, but it makes no sense not to have all these different free coverages if you travel, no matter your income level.

Here are 6 reasons this offer is absolutely great:

  • the most complete free travel insurance coverage for those who earn under $60,000 in income
  • limited-time increased signup bonus giving you $130 in free travel (usually $90)
  • one of few cards with no 2.5% foreign transaction fee
  • easy-to-use fixed-value points that can be used for literally any travel purchase
  • earn rate of 5 points per dollar (5% back) on groceries, restaurants, bars, theaters, etc.
  • earn rate of 3 points per dollar (3% back) on gas, transit, streaming services, etc.

You can apply for the Scotiabank Gold Card. Only those who have not had a Scotiabank card product in the past 2 years are eligible for the signup bonus, which is another reason we only recommend it if you earn under $60,000: if you earn over $60,000 you should get one of the next cards.

Details of the free $130:

  • $200 welcome bonus (20,000 Scotia points at 1¢ per point)
  • $50 earn rate on minimum spend ($1,000 at 5 pts per dollar)
  • ($120) card fee
  • $130 in free travel with the Scotiabank Gold Card

$181 free: card with 6 free airport lounge passes

The Scotia Passport Visa Infinite Card also has an increased signup bonus that is ending soon, and this is a great opportunity to get paid (even more than usual) to get free airport lounge access.

The card gives you $181 in free travel as a simple travel credit, a decent signup bonus. But it also gives you 6 annual lounge passes.

If you are confident that you will be able to use up 6 lounge passes before July 2021, this is a great time to get the higher signup bonus. You must earn $60,000 in annual income to qualify for this card.

Here are 6 reasons this offer is absolutely great:

  • 6 free airport lounge passes
  • limited-time increased signup bonus giving you $181 in free travel
  • one of few cards with no 2.5% foreign transaction fee
  • very exhaustive free travel insurance coverage
  • easy-to-use fixed-value points that can be used for literally any travel purchase
  • earn rate of 2 points per dollar (2% back) on groceries, dining, entertainment, and transit

You can apply for the Scotia Passport Visa Infinite Card. Only those who have not had a Scotiabank card product in the past 2 years are eligible for the signup bonus, which is why we don’t recommend you get the Gold Card above, as it will block you from getting this one that is much better.

Details of the free $181:

  • $300 welcome bonus (30,000 Scotia points at 1¢ per point)
  • $20 earn rate on minimum spend ($1,000 at 2 pts per dollar)
  • ($139) card fee
  • $181 in free travel with the Scotia Passport Visa Infinite Card

$200 free: simple cashback card

The Scotiabank Momentum Visa Infinite Card is the last of Scotia’s trio of cards that has an increased offer ending in a few days. It could be interesting in the current situation even if we normally recommend avoiding cashback cards.

The current signup bonus gives you $200 free: all you need to do is spend $2,000 in the first 3 months. That’s just $154 per week, so it’s quite doable. You must earn $60,000 in annual income to qualify for this card.

Here are 6 reasons this offer is absolutely great:

  • limited-time increased signup bonus giving you $200 in free travel
  • regular earn rate after signup bonus is 4% back on groceries and recurring payments
  • regular earn rate of 2% back on gas & transit, and 1% back everywhere else
  • very exhaustive free travel insurance coverage
  • easy-to-use cashback
  • free supplementary card for faster earning (the first year)

You can apply for the Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite Card. Only those who have not had a Scotiabank card product in the past 2 years are eligible for the signup bonus.
