Ireland is a very popular destination, like all countries in Western Europe. The reality is that many people sadly always want to go to countries they’ve often heard about and often seen, and to places with nonstop flights. Ireland certainly fits that bill. And it’s a wonderful country, of course.
It’s also very convenient! It’s just a 6h30m flight from Toronto, for example. I took one for only 220$ one-way myself in October (the self-transfer trick to visit beautiful Budapest again), and they’re often that cheap (around $500 roundtrip).
