Is the July 4th weekend really a travel nightmare in the U.S.? It sure looked like one at Miami’s airport this Independence Day. Travelers were in for a shock when a strange lime-green fluid started leaking from the ceiling and flooding a hallway.
Here’s everything you need to know about the mysterious leak at Miami’s airport.
Incident at Miami International Airport
Here’s the video.
Here’s what happened:
- Around 9 AM, a broken pipe caused a big leak
- A neon yellow-green liquid dripped from the ceiling
- The liquid wasn’t hazardous
- The damage happened in Terminal G
- A hallway was flooded
- A waiting area was inaccessible
- Passengers had to navigate around the large puddles
- Janitors blocked off the area
- Things went back to normal after 90 minutes of cleanup
After further investigation, airport officials reported that the leak wasn’t dangerous — it was just water tinted with green dye, a method used to detect and trace leaks, which came from the building’s air conditioning system.
Nevertheless, it was quite a colorful and nasty surprise for travelers!
