I redeemed Marriott Bonvoy points at the Aloft by Marriott Asuncion on 3 separate trips to Paraguay in early 2025. I stayed for 7 nights in total, almost all of them solo. The price in points was low, I had many points, and it is a very convenient hotel to stay at while I was running around town.

Here’s my review of the Aloft by Marriott Asuncion.
What is it like to stay at the Aloft Asuncion?
The Aloft Asuncion has the usual Aloft design, and it was a nice hotel for all 3 stays. I definitely recommend it.
I got the same king city-view room every time, used the gym every day, had free breakfast with my Platinum elite status, and the sunset from the room was great.
Aloft is one of Marriott’s younger and more dynamic brands, with a more modern design and feel than other chains in the upper midscale range. They’re generally all pretty recent and nice. This one sure was.
What is the price of the Aloft Asuncion?
The Aloft Asuncion can be very cheap with points. For January 2027, I found dates at 8,400 points per night. You always pay for just 4 nights when you redeem points for 5 nights.
So a random search for 15 nights in January 2027 is 96,800 points. You get 122,000 points with the current record-high welcome bonus on the Marriott Bonvoy Amex Card.

At those rates, redeeming a 35,000-point Marriott Bonvoy free night certificate obviously wouldn’t make sense. You need to keep those for hotels that cost more points! At only 8,400 points per night, this is where redeeming points makes more sense.
That said, always check the cash price, of course. In January 2027, the cash price is 107 USD. At our conservative Flytrippers Valuation of 0.9¢/pt, redeeming 8,400 points is still a better deal. Keep in mind there are cheaper places to stay in town if paying cash.
In my case, I booked 3 separate stays with Marriott Bonvoy points for 7 nights total. I paid 5,500 points per night in January, 6,500 in February, and 8,000 in March.
I’d definitely stay here again on points for shorter stays in Asunción.
Where is the Aloft Asuncion located?
The Aloft Asuncion was in a great spot for my shorter stays, with 2 malls, cafés, and restaurants within walking distance.
Shopping del Sol is next door, less than a 5-minute walk, and Paseo La Galería is another mall nearby. The hotel is also closer to the airport than the apartment I used for the first 8 nights, in a different neighborhood.
I liked that Airbnb too, but the Aloft Asuncion was more convenient for shorter stays in my case. You can reach it easily with Bolt from the airport (Uber also works, so I checked whichever was cheaper), and it’s pretty cheap too (between 19400 PYGand 25700 PYG) for a 15-minute taxi ride.
How was the check-in experience at the Aloft Asuncion?
The Aloft Asuncion façade has the brand’s usual design.
The loft-style lobby felt familiar too, and check-in was easy.
Not everyone at the desk spoke English every time, but my Spanish was good enough, and I’m sure you could get an English speaker if you needed one.
Thanks to my Marriott elite status, I got early check-in and late check-out when I needed it based on my flight times on my 3 trips.
Breakfast was free with Platinum. They also had a VIP lounge on the mezzanine with actual dinner at night, but I only found out about it on my last stay.
Alofts almost never have a lounge, so I’d check whether it’s still there. It might have been something temporary during the renovations at the Sheraton nearby. If that’s the case, that’s very nice of them.
What is the room like at the Aloft Asuncion?
I booked an ALOFT, Guest room, 1 King, City view at the Aloft Asuncion every time, and that’s exactly what I got, with no upgrade since it’s their best and only room with the 2 queen variant.
It wasn’t as roomy as a full apartment, but it was a good size for a hotel room.
I had the same king bed and city view (but on different sides of the building) on all 3 stays.
There was a fridge and a kettle for instant coffee setup.
I worked from the desk, and the air conditioning and Wi-Fi were good.
The bathroom only had a shower, and the water pressure was great.
There wasn’t a ton of storage, but it was enough for my backpack.
The sunset from the room, on the right side of the building, was great.
What amenities are offered at the Aloft Asuncion?
I used the gym at the Aloft Asuncion every day, and it was good enough for what I needed, especially since the Airbnb had no gym.
The pool is right by the gym. I saw it every day and never used it. It was never crowded, and it is big enough.
The (probably temporary) VIP lounge was pretty basic, in a meeting room, on the mezzanine.
How was the food and beverage at the Aloft Asuncion?
Breakfast at the Aloft Asuncion was a pretty good buffet included with Platinum status.
I ate dinner in the VIP lounge, but otherwise I didn’t have any food or drinks at the hotel.
Food nearby was cheap anyway, and the empanadas I got at the Shopping del Sol food court, less than a 5-minute walk away, were great.

Summary
The Aloft Asuncion is a nice Aloft in a walkable part of Asunción, and I’d stay there again on points for a shorter visit. I paid as little as 5,500 points a night, used the gym every day, and had a great sunset view from the room. The current record-high welcome bonus gives you more than 15 nights here.
