Experiencing business class or first class for almost free is easy thanks to travel rewards. But for most travelers, flying means being in economy class, because that gives twice as many trips. And one particular Canadian airline has a very highly ranked economy class.
I’ll again remind you that it’s so subjective, as with all rankings, studies, and polls. But it’s still a good indicator to take into account.
Here are the details.
Porter economy class ranked the best in the world
Porter is a small Canadian airline that has grown quite a bit since the pandemic, and their economy class experience has just been ranked the “best in the world.”

First, it’s worth mentioning that out of hundreds of airlines in the world, only 20 were analyzed for this ranking published by USA Today.
That said, Porter certainly has a superior economy class to many airlines, for a few main reasons:
- No middle seats
- Free beer and wine in real glassware
- Free premium snacks

I think the absence of middle seats is by far the best differentiator. It guarantees you won’t be stuck with someone on each side, which is indeed pretty amazing.
As for free beer, wine, and premium snacks, I already shared that Air Canada is also offering these for free now in economy class on all flights within Canada and the USA to match Porter. So both competitors offer this.
Apart from that, the only thing that really makes the economy class onboard experience better is the seat (legroom, width, and recline). On that front, Porter doesn’t even necessarily fare better than Air Canada, WestJet, Air Transat, or even Flair Airlines.
