You are currently viewing Top 5 countries with the freshest fruit according to Flytrippers fans

Traveling gives us the chance to taste local products. Is there anything better than perfectly ripe, fresh fruit that hasn’t traveled thousands of kilometers to reach our plate? At Flytrippers, we wanted to know where our followers have eaten the freshest fruit while traveling. So, we asked them — and here are the results!

On social media and in our free newsletter, we regularly ask for your opinion on travel-related topics to help inspire other travelers.

That often means that the most popular countries and destinations are over-represented in the answers. However, it’s still very interesting to know which ones come up most often.

Here are the places where our fans have eaten the freshest fruit.

1. Costa Rica

There’s always something fresh and delicious to snack on when in Costa Rica! You’ll find everything from juicy pineapples and mangoes to creamy bananas and sweet coconuts.

One of the local favorites is soursop (guanábana in Spanish), with its tangy, almost sherbet-like flavor, and let’s not forget the incredible variety of passion fruits. Rambutan (known locally as mamón chino) is a fun, red, spiky treat that’s super refreshing.

2. Thailand

Thailand is a fruit lover’s dream, and even if we can eat fruit all year round there, some are particularly delicious during a specific time! Mangoes are probably the superstar here, especially when paired with sticky rice or pickled with salt and red lime. You’ll also come across sweet, fragrant lychees, juicy pineapples, and oranges, as well as guava and tamarind.

Durian, the famous “king of fruits,” is one you either love or hate because of its strong smell, but locals can’t get enough of it. And don’t miss mangosteen — with its perfectly sweet and tangy flavor, often compared to a blend of lychee and peach.

3. United States (Hawaii)

Let’s be honest: every bite when you’re in Hawaii feels like pure sunshine! You’ve absolutely got to try one of the many varieties of pineapple, the island’s signature fruit, along with delicious mangoes and the small apple bananas that grow everywhere.

Papayas are a breakfast staple here, especially with a squeeze of lime or filled with yogurt, nuts, and fresh fruits. If you’re feeling adventurous, try some lilikoi (yellow passion fruit) or guava, which add a punch of flavor.

4. Brazil

Brazil is bursting with unique fruits! Most people know about açaí, especially in those delicious bowls, but you’ve also got to try cupuaçu, a rich, creamy fruit that’s kind of like chocolate’s cousin. Mangoes and papayas are everywhere, super juicy and perfect for a hot day.

Then there’s guava, which Brazilians love in everything from juices to desserts for its aromatic and refreshing taste. And don’t forget about the Caju or cashew fruit — not just the nut, but the fruit it comes from, which is sweet and tangy!

5. Vietnam

Vietnam has amazing tropical fruit options that are full of flavor! Mangoes are a big hit, whether you like them sweet or green and crunchy with a bit of chili salt. You’ll also find dragon fruit, with its bright pink skin and white, speckled inside.

Jackfruit is another favorite, known for its sweet, chewy texture, and don’t forget lychees, which are small but packed with juicy sweetness. Oh, and Vietnamese bananas are smaller but extra sweet and perfect for snacking!
