You are currently viewing The 5 favorite U.S. states to visit according to Flytrippers fans

The United States is a huge country and offers wonderful destinations to explore. I know this very well, having visited 47 of the 50 States. We have so many options that it can be difficult to choose. At Flytrippers, we were curious to know which states our followers love most, so we asked — and received very diverse answers! Here’s a quick look at the results.

On social media and in our free newsletter, we regularly ask for your opinion on travel-related topics to help inspire other travelers.

That often means that the most popular destinations are over-represented in the answers and that these are more the favorites rather than the best. However, it’s still very interesting to know which ones come up most often.

Here are the states our followers have shared as their favorite to visit in the USA.

1. California

When we asked our followers to share their favorite U.S. state to visit, the Golden State claimed the top spot — and honestly, we’re not surprised, as it’s super popular. This is where you can surf in the morning, hike through Redwoods National Parks in the afternoon, and sip wine in a sun-drenched vineyard in the evening.

From the glitz of Los Angeles and the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco to the rugged coastline of Big Sur and the natural wonders of Yosemite and Joshua Tree, California is a playground for every type of traveler. Whether you’re craving adventure, relaxation, or just a little touch of Hollywood magic, there’s definitely something for everyone.

2. Hawaii

Hawaii comes in 2nd position — paradise on Earth! With its postcard-perfect beaches, lush rainforests, and vibrant island culture, it’s no surprise this tropical haven is one of the favorites even if it’s an extremely expensive destination. Whether you’re catching waves on Waikiki, exploring the volcanic landscapes of the Big Island, or soaking in the jaw-dropping views along Maui’s Road to Hana, Hawaii offers a sensational escape.

Adventure seekers, beach lovers, and those in need of pure relaxation will all find their part of heaven here. Add in the warm aloha spirit and incredible local cuisine, and it’s clear why this island chain feels like a dream come true for travelers from all over the world.

3. Utah

In 3rd place, we have Utah — a state that feels like stepping into another world. Famous for its distinctive landscapes and stunning national parks, it’s a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. From the fiery red rock arches of Arches National Park to the dramatic canyons of Zion and the surreal salt flats near the Great Salt Lake, Utah’s beauty is nothing short of breathtaking.

It’s a playground for hikers, climbers, and photographers, but even if you’re not the adventurous type, simply soaking in the scenery is unforgettable. Add in the charm of small towns like Moab and the unique culture of Salt Lake City, and you understand clearly why Utah captures so much attention.

4. Florida

In 4th place, Florida shines as the ultimate sunshine getaway. Known for its year-round warm weather, the Sunshine State also has something for everyone. Families flock to Orlando for the magic of Disney World and Universal Studios, while beach lovers can’t get enough of Miami’s vibrant energy or the laid-back vibes of the Florida Keys.

Nature enthusiasts will be wowed by the Everglades and the crystal-clear springs scattered throughout the state. Whether you’re soaking up the sun, diving into adventure, or indulging in fresh seafood, Florida’s blend of fun and relaxation makes it a favorite.

5. Arizona

Rounding out the top 5 is Arizona, a state that leaves visitors in awe with its dramatic desert landscapes and iconic landmarks. The Grand Canyon alone is enough to earn Arizona a spot on anyone’s travel list, but there’s so much more to explore. From Sedona’s red rocks to the stunning Antelope Canyon and the iconic landscapes of Monument Valley, Arizona is packed with unforgettable views around every corner.

Adventure seekers can hike, raft, or stargaze under some of the clearest skies in the country, while city lovers will appreciate the dynamic art scenes and Southwestern flavors in Phoenix and Tucson. It’s a destination that blends rugged beauty with unique culture.
