You are currently viewing How to create an RBC Avion Rewards account

The RBC Avion Rewards program is among the best bank rewards programs, at least for those who want to maximize the value of their rewards. Like for all other major programs that are open to everyone, you should take a few seconds to create a free account that will allow you to earn Avion points (if you don’t already have an account).

This is no different than what you’ve most likely already done a few times in your life, but we’ve made a step-by-step on how to create your account for RBC Avion Rewards in just a few clicks.

Here are the details.

Overview of RBC Avion Rewards accounts

Many travelers assume that bank rewards programs are only available to the bank’s clients, and that’s often true.

But not with RBC Avion! You can (and you should) create an account even if you have absolutely no RBC credit cards or bank accounts. You’ll be able to earn Avion points (with their promotions and their online shopping portal) or participate in their giveaways, like the current one for a trip to see the Taylor Swift tour.

Of course, you won’t earn in huge quantities, as is always the case for any situation that doesn’t involve credit cards. It’s still free points, though! Don’t miss our ultimate guide to the RBC Avion program coming soon.

You’ll be able to pool the points you earn now with the ones you’ll get from RBC credit cards later (when they fit your travel rewards strategy or when you decide to finally stop missing out and put together a travel rewards strategy).

Flytrippers strongly recommends using 1Password for security and simplicity. It protects all your information and identity, and you won’t need to remember a password or account number. We use it personally and it’s changed our lives.

Again: if you are an RBC client you already are an Avion Rewards member, no need to create an account.

Step 3: Enter email

Enter your email address and click “continue” to become a member.

Step 7: Set up multifactor authentication

Flytrippers highly recommends always activating multifactor authentication to protect your points.

Pro tip: If you travel a lot, you should always choose multifactor authentication through your email address instead of your phone number when it’s offered.

If you’re a savvy traveler, you should never fall for the incredible scam that Canadian phone roaming plans are. If you get an eSIM like Airalo, you’ll be able to receive free text messages, so it’s not an issue. But if you get a physical local SIM card (which sometimes allows you to save even more money), you’ll have to switch SIM cards just to complete your multifactor authentication if it’s by text message instead of by email.

So, select “use email instead” right above the phone number field.

Set up the authentication with a different email address than the one you’ve entered to create the account to be able to log in easily no matter where you are in the world.

Step 8: Complete multifactor authentication

Enter the code from your backup phone or email.

Step 9: Login and get started

That’s it; you’re an Avion Rewards member now! You can sign in to see your membership information.
