One of the favorite parts of my trip to Peru was the trip to the Huacachina desert near Ica! Our amazing hotel was one of the things that made it amazing. Here is a review of the Hotel Villa Jazmin.
If you’ve been following us for a while, you know that we don’t only offer great flight deals, but also a hotel booking tool, since accommodations are a huge part of travel planning. To become your favorite destination for all things travel, we now feature a Hotel Reviews section to share our experiences in the various hotels we try ourselves.
For my first trip to South America, I visited Peru last year thanks to a great deal found on our cheap flight deals page. Usually, my trips combine both working on the website and exploring new places, but this trip was my annual summer vacation with my girlfriend, so we had a busy itinerary in many beautiful regions of Peru, including the desert of Huacachina.
I visited many different hotels since I like variety and I also like to experience different neighborhoods: you can see all the hotel reviews in my Peru trip report.
So here’s what it’s like to stay at the Hotel Villa Jazmin.

The Hotel
The Hotel Villa Jazmin is a 3-star hotel located in Ica, in a quiet gated residential area near the entrance of the city, with a security employee posted in a booth.

Location
The hotel is located in the town of Ica, which enjoys a glorious 360 days of sunshine per year. The city’s main attraction is the beautiful desert oasis, Huacachina. You might have seen it on Instagram as it is a very popular sight.
There, you can ride dune buggies, surf the sand dunes on boards and grab a nice meal in the many restaurants surrounding the oasis. It is really different from the landscapes you typically see (and expect to see) in Peru. It is also a wine-producing region, if that’s something you enjoy.

To reach the Hotel Villa Jazmin from the bus station (if you are arriving from Lima), we recommend Uber, a very affordable means of transportation in Peru, especially when not traveling solo. It took us approximately 15 minutes. The hotel is also about 25 minutes away from the Huacachina desert oasis.
Arrival And Check-in
Even at first sight, we were already really pleased by the hotel. We knew that we would have a great stay at Hotel Villa Jazmin. The employee that greeted us was really friendly and helpful.
We asked him about Huacachina and when the best time to go was and he immediately told us that the sunset was the best time. Because it was almost time, he called us a taxi right away so we wouldn’t miss the chance to see the dunes in the sunset.

Lobby And Common Areas
The hotel lobby was welcoming, with its comfortable couches and spacious feel.

But what took our breath away was the very nice common areas outside. With two pools, plenty of chairs to lay down and the decor, we felt like we had our own oasis! We could also even see sand dunes on the other side of the hotel, just a few feet from the hotel buildings.

The Room
The room we were assigned to was really clean, beautiful and quite spacious. The large windows offered a great view of the common area with the pool just across the pathway from our room. The bed was quite comfortable too.

The room had a large storage space to put all our things. We also were happy to see that we had the AC and a mini-refrigerator to cool our beverages.

The amenities offered were the usual.

The Services
The Hotel Villa Jazmin had a beautiful restaurant with a surprising decor. Plants were hanging from the ceiling, without any pots. The lighting fixtures were pretty and the long window on the main wall made for a great look.

The breakfast was served in the restaurant the next morning. We were offered a buffet with lots of options and a lot of fresh fruit.
The hotel had a fitness center, facing the common area and the pool. It also had a game room so that children could have a place to play.

Overall, we had a great time in Ica. The location was perfect, close enough to Huacachina and in a quiet area with beautiful dunes behind the hotel. The Villa Jazmin had everything we were hoping for and then some! We strongly recommend this hotel if you’re planning on going sandbording or seeing the desert oasis!
