Like every country in the world, Thailand has entry requirements and rules. They weren’t particularly restrictive, but since June, they’re even less. The Southeast Asian country is one of my favorites in the world and I’ve been 7 times. Now certain travelers like me will enjoy the country’s new visa policy.
Here are the details of the easing of the visa policy by Thailand — and an important reminder about country entry rules.
Thailand’s new visa policy
Here are the essentials:
- Visa-free stay in Thailand is now allowed for 60 days
- Instead of 30 days like it was
- Great for digital nomads and long-term travelers
- From many countries, including Canada
- Already in effect
- Since June
It’s obviously great news.
I’ll soon share the next post in our accommodation prices feature, for Thailand’s neighbor Viet Nam, and while researching my trip there, I noticed it’s another country where I stayed 30 days precisely… because that’s what their visa allowed.
I would’ve stayed longer and contributed more to their economy, but their own rules prevented me from doing it. It just makes so much more sense for countries to allow longer visa periods if they want to attract the growing digital nomad segment.
I’ll also soon share more details about my many trips to Thailand if you’re interested.
Reminder about country entry rules
I’d like to remind you that most countries obviously have various entry requirements and that checking them is literally the only mandatory step in the entire preparation of any trip!
Too often, people get unpleasant surprises because they don’t know that some countries require visas, passports valid for at least 6 months past their planned return date, or proof of exit from the country (to name just a few requirements)… that’s why we’ve put together the ultimate guide to country travel requirements.
