If you have elite status with Air Canada Aeroplan, there’s currently a status boost promotion to help you with your 2025 status and get bonus eUpgrades. It’s not for everyone, though — especially now that there’s not much time left. But I still wanted to re-share it to remind you that this is your last chance.
Here are the details of the Air Canada Aeroplan elite status boost promotion.
What is the Aeroplan elite status boost promotion?
This promotion can give you 20 eUpgrades and 15,000 SQM.
This status boost promotion is only for those who:
- Already have Aeroplan elite status
- Don’t have the Amex Aeroplan Reserve Card yet
- Can spend a lot of money on a card
How to take advantage of the Aeroplan elite status boost promotion?
Here’s what you need to do to get this promotion:
- REGISTER for the promotion on Air Canada
- Very important to do this first
- Apply for the Amex Aeroplan Reserve Card
- Via our secure Amex link
- Earn at least 20,000 points before July 31st
- Points from the welcome bonus are excluded
How much spending is required for the Aeroplan elite status boost promotion?
Since you need 20,000 points and the Amex Aeroplan Reserve Card’s base earn rate is 1.25 pts/$, you would need to spend at most $16,000 — which is a lot in just the few weeks left, unless you have a big purchase or business expenses.
The amount you need to spend is a bit lower if you take advantage of the multiplier earn rates:
- 3 pts/$ on Air Canada spending
- 2 pts/$ on dining and food delivery
But it’s still pretty steep, with a $6,667 minimum spend at the best earn rate of 3 pts/$ for Air Canada purchases. Maybe you need to book flights for 6 people — or terribly expensive flights for fewer people. Or often-overpriced packages.
How good is the Aeroplan elite status boost promotion?
As you probably know as an elite status member, eUpgrades allow you to get upgrades to better seat classes for a very low price. Especially if you know the pro tips.
Our Flytrippers Valuation of Air Canada Aeroplan eUpgrades is ≈ $100 each for business class and ≈ $50 for premium economy.
That means the promotion is worth ≈ $1,000 to ≈ $2,000 — assuming you would have paid that amount for premium cabin flights or value them at their high cash price.
As for the 15,000 SQM, they’re much harder to value. Every traveler values elite status differently.
And the bonus SQM are only useful if you need them and you’ve already covered the SQD aspect of the requalification requirements.
Again, as a teaser for our guide to Aeroplan elite status coming soon, qualification requirements always include 2 mandatory variables:
- SQD (Status Qualifying Dollars)
- SQM (Status Qualifying Miles) OR SQS (Status Qualifying Segments)
The exception is EDQ (Every Day Qualification), an alternative way to qualify for status by simply earning 100,000 points in a year (welcome bonuses and Amex points transfers excluded).
