You probably should too.
It gives you $1025! Which you can redeem for any trip (or almost any trip) and with no time limit (as is almost always the case with travel rewards, contrary to another common myth). And there’s no annual fee the 1st year.
The TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card also has the airport lounge benefit, all the good insurance coverages, an extra bonus on your birthday (worth up to $50) on top of the $1025 welcome bonus, and some other benefits you can discover on our card resource page…
But here I just wanted to sum up why you should definitely take advantage of it now!

How to take advantage of the deal and get $1025
Here is exactly how to take advantage of the deal very easily:
- Apply for the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card
- Get an annual travel credit of $100 in 2025 (on a $500+ hotel booking)
- Get an annual travel credit of $100 in 2026 (on a $500+ hotel booking)
- Unlock the welcome bonus by spending $5,000 (within 6 months)
- Earn 165,000 points ($825 redeemable for almost any trip)
As simple as that!
To put it in another way, you’ll earn a whopping 20.5% back on $5,000 in spending ($1025 on $5,000). A bit better than 1% or 2%, right?
But there’s one peculiarity that’s TD-specific. I’ll explain that first, along with the other vital details for each of the 3 simple steps.
Apply for the card
Using our secure link to apply for the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card online is the most efficient and quickest way (as with all cards)… but unfortunately with TD, there’s a greater chance they’ll ask you to call in or to go to a branch for identification if they don’t know you, even if you apply online (compared to all other card issuers), or even deny you without telling you all you need to do is call to identify yourself.
To be clear, the majority of TD online applications work instantly and with no extra effort obviously, so that’s the most likely scenario. It’s just that the minority percentage of people who are asked to call in or to go to a branch after the online application is clearly higher with TD than with any other card issuer.
It’s unfortunate, but it is what it is. It’s worth the effort to get $1025 in value, especially since you have way better odds of not having to put in that effort than the contrary.
Personally, I applied for the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card and was instantly approved, as was Flytrippers’s other co-founder. But I’d rather warn you about the possibility so you aren’t surprised in case you are among that random minority.
So by applying online now, that gives you plenty of time to call or to get to a TD branch if you’re one of the unlucky ones who have to do it. So you don’t miss out on the $1025!
Get the travel credit
You get the $100 travel credit as soon as you have the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card, as it is a card benefit and is not related to the welcome bonus. You get another in 2026, too. You just need to make a hotel booking of at least $500, which pretty much every single traveler should be able to easily do. Especially since you can also get the credit when you pay for the hotel in points.
If not, the welcome bonus alone is still worth an incredible $825, and that one doesn’t have to be used with a time limit.

The $500+ hotel (or package) booking must be made through Expedia for TD, which has almost every travel option available. Really not restrictive. And you’ll get $100 credited back.
Unlock the welcome bonus
As with (almost) all welcome bonuses, you have to reach a minimum spending requirement to unlock the bonus. That’s all you have to do and that’s it, you’ll get a ton of points.
(It’s why we can get “just” a few thousand dollars in free travel each year… not an unlimited amount as we could if there were no minimum spending requirements!)
For the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card, it’s $5,000 in a maximum of 6 months. It seems like a lot, but it’s the equivalent of just $192 a week. Easy enough for everyone.
Especially over a long period of time like 6 months (often it’s just 3 months), because it’s almost certain that big expenses will come up in the next half year and so you’ll easily be able to reach $5000. Otherwise, we have some pro tips so literally anyone can do it.
Get $825 as a welcome bonus
There are 2 types of reward uses and many people often prefer the simpler uses. It’s exactly what you can do with the 165,000 TD Rewards points you’ll get for unlocking the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card welcome bonus.
That’s $825 as a simple travel credit redeemable for any trip of your choice with no rules, no complexity, and no restrictions.
The only requirement is that you have to book through their Expedia for TD website. This makes almost all travel expenses eligible anyway, since Expedia is one of the largest travel sites in the world.
So it could hardly be less restrictive or simpler.
If you absolutely want to, you can also book anywhere else too. Your points will be worth $660 instead of $825 this way. Obviously, the simpler it is, the less advantageous it is… like almost everything in life.
It’s still $660 in value very easily even that way!
But obviously, I strongly encourage you to find flights or hotels to book on their platform to maximize the value of your points! It’s easy. Really there, almost every trip is available on the Expedia for TD website.
And if you don’t manage to travel at all in the next year despite the $825, you will NOT lose the TD Rewards points on your TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card even if you decide not to keep the card when you re-evaluate it just before it renews in 1 year (when your 1st year with no annual fee ends).
You can simply upgrade from the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card to the no-annual-fee version, the TD Visa Rewards Card. It’s that easy (just like with almost every card)! There’s no time limit to use your points (just like almost all points out there). But we suggest you just travel more often of course; travel is pretty cool!
Especially when you easily get $1025 for your next trips.
Airport lounge access benefit
Starting April 30, you will get access to 4 free passes for 1200 airport lounges worldwide. This is a benefit that will be added to the card itself, so obviously, you will get it even if you already have the card on that date.
What is not obvious is when the current increased welcome bonus offer will end. We just don’t know.

Bonus: Pro tip
Here’s a pro tip only if you identify with 1 of these profiles:
- You’re a travel rewards pro already
- You already have a great credit score AND many credit accounts that are old (that have been open for a while, to keep your average age of accounts very old)
If so, the same calendar day you apply for the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card, you can also apply for a 2nd card to get another welcome bonus.
That’s what we always do: that’s why the recommendation is to space out card application days and not card applications!
But if you aren’t sure, go slower: travel rewards are a marathon, not a sprint!
Some rare cards have no minimum spend requirement, so you can get 2 bonuses at once without any extra spending.
Many cards have very low minimum spends too, giving you 2 bonuses as well.
And if you spend more you can choose the 2 best every 2-3 months, because it’s way better for your credit score than getting 1 every month (don’t do that!).

Can I get this card if I still have the TD Aeroplan VISA?
You sure can, and you sure should 😉 For the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card, or all TD cards really, each product is really treated separately!
That’s the case with many banks.

If I apply for the same TD First Class card twice on the same calendar day to unlock both bonuses, can I be flagged if they see that I’ve submitted two applications? Will this greatly affect my credit score? I also currently hold a TD aeroplan card (obtained Nov 2022).
And then I can cancel or downgrade both cards before the year is up?
Once the two cards are approved, can you merge the points into one account?
You can’t apply for the same card twice the same day. If you want 2 cards and can reach both minimum spends, you need to choose 2 different cards from 2 different issuers (although Amex is the exception, as they sometimes allow getting 2 different cards the same day).
Hi. So this card has no lounge access?
Correct, we always mention it when a card has such a good benefit.
But let’s say you think you’re way savvier by getting the CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite Card instead of the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card, to get 4 airport lounge passes. Your welcome bonus is $513 instead of $825. You’re losing $312 to get 4 lounge passes. Is it really savvy to pay $78 per lounge pass? It’s a rhetorical question but just in case: no, because many of these lounges you can just pay to access for less than $78. Of course if you get both, now that is savvier 😉
I have a question for you. With a spend requirement like this ($5000 in 6 months), are the points available as soon as you spend the $5000 ( on the next statement date), or do they only award the points at the six month mark?
It depends on the bank, but with most banks the points should post on the billing statement where you reach the minimum spend requirement, or the one after sometimes. I believe that’s the case with TD.
If I got a CIBC Aeroplan Visa Infinite in February 2023, does that disqualify me from getting the TD first class Travel Visa Infinite card and the Great bonus?
Absolutely not, every bank is separate. The ONLY rule across different banks is specifically for Aeroplan cards only, as in if you where to get the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card you technically wouldn’t get the bonus. But the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card is not an Aeroplan card (no “Aeroplan” in the card name) so you’re good 🙂
