Where can I earn and redeem Scene+ points?

You have many options to earn and redeem Scene+ points, as they’re the currency of one of the bank/retail reward programs with the most partners in Canada. Scene+ points are rewards of the more simple type with many of the available redemption options giving you a fixed value of 1¢/pt (including all the Scene+ partners).

To be very clear, we already have a post about how to redeem Scene+ points that compares all your options and their values, and we’ll soon share a post about how to earn even more Scene+ points. 

This post here is to list the Scene+ partners specifically.

Scene+ credit card partner

As for every reward program, credit cards are always the fastest way to earn a lot of points.

Scotiabank issues 7 credit cards that allow you to earn and redeem Scene+ points (although 2 of them require having an incorporated business, unlike with American Express “business” cards).

Scene+ bank account partner

Scotiabank is unique in that you can also earn points by paying with debit. We certainly don’t recommend paying by debit instead of credit, because you earn way less and lose so many benefits and protections. But it can be an alternative if you’re rebuilding your credit score.

Scene+ online shopping portal partner

Scene+ has a special partnership with the Rakuten online shopping portal, so you can earn Scene+ points at 700+ online stores. Shopping portals give you bonus rewards, and the Scene+/Rakuten portal sometimes gives you exclusive bonuses.

The rewards you earn with your online shopping portal are always in addition to the rewards you earn on everything you buy with your credit card and in addition to the rewards you earn directly with the rewards program of the place you are buying from (if they have any).

You should really always use online shopping portals. You can even get $30 free to try it out with our Rakuten referral bonus. Do that before setting up a special Scene+/Rakuten account.

Scene+ travel partner

Scene+ has its own travel agency called Scene+ Travel, Powered by Expedia. It’s essentially the same thing as Expedia, but exclusively for Scene+. 

You can earn and redeem points on travel, but it’s usually better to redeem for travel booked directly with airlines and hotels (because with Scene+ points, you get the same value — and booking direct is better).
