I just had an amazing luxury experience in the world’s best business class. It was as good as when I did it in 2023; this time I had 25 hours in my suite with a sliding privacy door, a great fully lie-flat seat bed, amazing food and service, etc. Instead of paying the cash price of $3208, I redeemed airline points… and you can get the required amount of points with a single welcome bonus!!!
Yes, getting luxurious business class flights between Canada and Asia with a single welcome bonus is absolutely insane. The RBC Avion Visa Infinite Card has a new, never-before-seen record-high offer since last week, so I wanted to share this testimonial. You can’t miss this deal (if you’re a bit flexible; these points are not as flexible as Aeroplan points).
Getting this level of luxury for 25 hours is wild; it’s one of the best sweet spots in rewards. Flytrippers helps you travel for less with our free newsletter specifically about travel rewards, our ranking of the best current deals, our monthly live videos, and our infographic with all the basics.
Here’s my latest business class testimonial.
Me
This section will be especially useful for when our fans, like you, will share a testimonial; so you can know at least a little bit about them.
In my case, for those who haven’t been following my travel stories over the last 9 years since I co-founded Flytrippers, my priority is traveling more; I travel about 10 times per year. So, I usually make decisions accordingly and try to save on almost everything.
But with all the crazy welcome bonus deals these past years, I now allow myself to travel in business class on many of my long flights. Finally, I travel solo more often than with my girlfriend or friends.

My trip
I absolutely love Asia, so I went back again. I spent nearly a month there, almost all of it in China. It’s a very underrated country to travel to, and luxury hotels are so affordable there.
Like last year, I planned a spring trip to Asia to take advantage of the Marriott Bonvoy promotion for double elite nights (a shortcut to elite status).
Like last year, I wanted the long flights to be in business class. This great redemption in the world’s best business class was for my inbound flights.
I had first flown this specific business class in 2023, and I’ve flown a few different ones since; I had 9 business class flights in 2025 alone, and 2 more for my outbound flights (my redemption for those was at the low guaranteed fixed price of 75,000 Aeroplan points, and I’ll cover that in a separate testimonial soon).
Anyway, I always compared everything to this business class, and there’s a reason it’s consistently voted the world’s best business class year after year.
Once it was clear that the situation in Qatar was stable and flights were operating reliably, I decided to keep this flight booking.

My business class flight experience (Qatar Airways Qsuite)
Here are the details of my 2 business class flights on this booking.
My 1st flight:
- From: Hong Kong (HKG)
- To: Doha (DOH)
- Airline: Qatar Airways
- Aircraft: B777-300ER
- Seat: 1A
- Length: 14 hours 45 minutes
- Date: April 14, 2026
My 2nd flight:
- From: Doha (DOH)
- To: Montreal (YUL)
- Airline: Qatar Airways
- Aircraft: A350-1000
- Seat: 5K
- Length: 9 hours 45 minutes
- Date: April 15, 2026
I’ll share an actual review of these flight experiences with all the details soon.
I’ll just share the highlights here in this testimonial format, to focus on the points redemption.
There’s a reason the Qsuite is often voted the world’s best business class. It was nothing short of amazing.

Many airlines have good fully lie-flat seat beds, but having a door you can close to make it a private suite space makes it so much more exclusive and luxurious.

All the unlimited food I ate was delicious. But the Qatar Airways poutine I enjoyed in 2023 wasn’t on the menu (maybe it’s only departing from Montreal)!

The champagne and alcohol are obviously free too.
The desserts were all great.

The flight attendants were great, as you’d expect from a premium Gulf airline; a reminder that everything related to hospitality is so much better outside North America (too many people are unfortunately unaware of this).
They were friendly and very quick to bring whatever I wanted; and I wanted a lot. I love maximizing everything!
They offered to set up my bed without me even having to ask for it, both times.

The pajamas were no longer the very comfortable ones from The White Company brand like in 2023. They were still comfortable, but had a tacky Formula 1 design I’m not a fan of. That’s pretty minor, though.
The amenity kit was by Diptyque.

The seat is roomy and comfortable.

It’s really the pinnacle of luxury in flight, and I can’t recommend it enough.

I also got to experience one of the world’s top VIP airport lounges, the Qatar Airways Al-Mourjan Lounge in Doha. It’s a bit better than network lounges.

And as a savvy traveler who knows that a business class flight on a oneworld alliance member gives access to much better lounges than the one they try to send you to, I also visited Cathay Pacific’s The Bridge and The Pier lounges in Hong Kong (both were amazing).

I also visited the Amex Centurion Lounge in Hong Kong, exclusive to Amex Platinum cardholders (the same card as for the Amex pop-up lounge in Downtown Montreal for F1).
My business class flights’ cash price ($3208)
Prices for business class flights are always completely insane in cash; don’t ever pay that.
My one-way was actually much more expensive than $3208. The real price was $8977 for my exact flight.

But that’s just because long-distance one-ways are often more expensive.
So instead of that, I used half of the regular roundtrip price of $6417 to be more realistic and fair in my valuation.

The takeaway: business class flights are crazy expensive when paid in cash. Someone paying for the seat I got had to pay $3208 each way. This is luxury.
My travel rewards redemption (95,000 Avios points + $473)
Here are the details of my travel rewards redemption:
- Program: Qatar Airways Privilege Club
- Price: 95,000 Avios points
- Taxes/fees: $473
- Cash price: $3208
- Value: 3.7¢/pt*
- Flytrippers Valuation: ≈ 1.5¢/pt
*RBC Avion points are transferable to Avios with a 30% transfer bonus each year, so you only need 73,077 RBC Avion points to get 95,000 Avios points (the value I got was 3.7 ¢ per RBC Avion point)
Yes, the taxes are much higher when redeeming for the Qsuite (my inbound flights from Canada to Asia in business class cost me just $120 in taxes; the typical amount with Aeroplan points).
But even as a very cheap person, I believe it’s worth the higher taxes. First of all, in this case, it’s a great sweet spot with 25 hours of luxury flying. And also, it’s the world’s best business class!

That’s an amazing value of 3.7¢/pt because I saved $2735 (ticket at $3208 in cash minus $473 in taxes/fees paid) with 73,077 RBC Avion points. You can read the basics of reward value.
That’s why it’s so bad to waste points of the more lucrative type at the terrible 1¢/pt value like so many people sadly do. I got nearly 4 times more value! I even got way more value than our conservative Flytrippers Valuation, which is ≈ 1.5¢/pt for RBC Avion points.
The 95,000 points is the low guaranteed fixed price for flights between Canada and anywhere in East Asia or Southeast Asia when there are available seats (the key concept for business class deals). If you prefer, the guaranteed fixed price for Doha is 70,000 points, and the price for South Asia is 85,000 points.
My strategy to earn these travel rewards (Avios points)
Avios points are among the easiest to earn in Canada!
The RBC Avion Visa Infinite Card‘s welcome bonus eligibility rules are very unrestrictive; while you can get the welcome bonus on the same card an unlimited number of times for almost all Canadian cards (the main exception is Amex cards; but not Aeroplan cards, contrary to the common myth), you normally need to have closed the card, and sometimes there’s a wait period.
Indeed, the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Card‘s welcome bonus eligibility rules are the least restrictive in Canada: all new applications are eligible. Yes, even if you currently had the card, you’d be eligible for the current great bonus by applying again; that’s how unrestrictive it is.
That’s how I got the points for this flight (and all my many other business class flights): welcome bonuses! Always! So simple.
How you too can do the exact same thing right now
In Flytrippers’ infographic with all the basics of travel rewards, you can read THE most important thing to understand in the entire wonderful world of travel rewards: the best way to earn a lot of rewards is always with welcome bonuses.
