Travel rewards are obviously one of the best ways to travel more for less: If you’re a traveler, you absolutely have to invest a bit of time into this. Here’s the first of our posts to summarize September’s developments in this wonderful world.
We’ll continue this week with much more, including some positive changes announced yesterday by Air Canada’s VP at the travel rewards event I attended in Vancouver.
Today, we’re so proud that Flytrippers readers have now surpassed the $1 million mark in welcome bonuses earned through our recommendations (that’s a lot of free travel!!!), so we’re going to indulge in a rare occasion when we include some news related to us.

5. Gift card trick
- What: Earn 5X points at 100+ retailers with gift cards
- When: Right now

Obviously, welcome bonuses are the key to getting more travel rewards, not regular purchases. And it’s not even close.
But it’s still good to earn 5X more points almost everywhere too when you’re not unlocking the welcome bonuses you should be getting regularly.
We’ve told you many times about the gift card trick to earn 5X points in so many places, so we did a detailed article with the list of 100+ merchants in Canada where you can easily get 5X the points.
