You are currently viewing New travel rewards offers (January 2025)

If you missed the great offers that just ended, good news! The one for $1025 free (on a card with a relatively low required income) has been extended. And there is a new record-high offer on a premium card (in addition to the 2 existing deals on premium cards ending soon… including 1 with no required income).

Warning: our always-updated ranking has all the best current deals, as always. And we have a post explaining the 4 best current deals.

This post today is only to keep you updated on the offer changes that have just taken place. It’s NOT for the best offers, just the new ones.

Here are the new travel rewards offers for January 2025.

Offer changes (January 2025)

TD and Scotia have just made changes to their offers at the beginning of January. I’ll list them by card below.

If you want to join the travel rewards pros, it’s simple: take advantage of welcome bonuses regularly. Especially the biggest ones, which have special increased offers! It’s not any more complicated than that.

If you’re not already one of our savvy Flytrippers readers who have earned over 3 million dollars in free travel thanks to the travel rewards deals we’ve shared, you need to check out our one-page travel rewards summary with plenty of info for beginners.

And if you missed the 2 absolutely amazing deals below (that just ended), you really shouldn’t have. We’ve talked about them plenty of times so that you didn’t miss out.

TD offer changes (January 2025)

One of the best deals ever seen for simple points, the record-high offer on the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card that was due to end on January 6, has been extended. That’s great news for those who are eligible for this welcome bonus.

The TD changes only affect their Aeroplan main-level card (a lower offer) and premium-level card (a higher offer).

The big news with TD this time is that the offers have no publicly posted end date. Usually, TD offers that last several months, but that remains to be seen with this new approach.

Changes:

The enhanced offer that was available with our Flytrippers link (not available by going to the bank’s site directly) is over.

It’s still a very good offer… it’s the other one that was really exceptional, as we’ve told you many times.

The only difference is that the welcome bonus has dropped by 10,000 Aeroplan points (≈ $150). The 1st year fee is waived, no change there (nor for the minimum spending requirement).

Changes:

The offer on the premium-level card has gone up! Only by 5,000 points (≈ $75), but that’s obviously better than no increase.

The value of this card has obviously increased a lot too with its new benefit: it now gives you a free full-size carry-on bag, whereas Air Canada no longer includes this in the cheapest tickets since January 3 (for short-distance flights).

(If your income is lower, the American Express Aeroplan Reserve Card has the same benefit, plus a welcome bonus almost as big — and no income requirement!)

Scotia offer changes (January 2025)

The exceptional deal we’ve kept talking about is now over.

But at least now there’s a new record-high offer on their premium card. There’s also a very slight increase on a popular card that offers free access to VIP airport lounges (an offer you should still avoid, though).

As is often the case, Scotia offers have an end date that’s very far away, so it’s easy to plan for them in your card application strategy.

Scotiabank Gold American Express Card

Changes:

The offer has decreased a little. There are now 5,000 fewer points ($50), but the 1st year fee is no longer waived, resulting in a total reduction of $170.

It’s still one of the best offers in Canada for simple points, but now the American Express Cobalt Card really becomes more interesting as a bonus to get, assuming you are interested in the must-have cards that give 5X the points!

Scotiabank Platinum American Express Card

Scotiabank Platinum American Express® Card
Flytrippers Valuation

$
Rewards: $1000*

(or $3,000 for lower bonus)

Changes:

It’s the highest offer ever seen on this premium card, which offers 10 free passes for VIP airport lounges!

Keep in mind that the American Express Platinum Card (very similar names; don’t confuse them), which is frankly superior on all counts, also has an increased offer until January 28, so it’s worth prioritizing that one (but it as a very, very high minimum spending requirement). Another premium card, the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege Card, also has its best offer ever until January 15.

Don’t miss a head-to-head comparison between these premium cards very soon.

Read our Scotiabank Platinum American Express Card resource page for 10+ tabs full of information.

Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Card

Scotiabank Passport® Visa Infinite* Card
Flytrippers Valuation
of Welcome bonus (net value)

Card fee: $150
ends July 1st

min. income: $60k (or $100k household)

Changes:

The offer that was terrible is now a little less terrible. It gives 5,000 more points ($50) and the minimum spending requirement has doubled (from $1,000 to $2,000).

If you want a card with free access to VIP airport lounges, you can do better than this very low offer. Imagine: if you took this one instead of the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite Card, which gives you $1025 instead of $190, it would essentially cost you $835 to get 6 lounge passes. Ouch… (If you take both, then it’s obviously different and it’s much savvier!)

Don’t miss our upcoming guide to lounges.
